Air Rowing Machine
Probably one of the most useful machines a person can get for their home gym is an air rowing machine. I’m sure most people are at least vaguely familiar with what a rowing machine is – a long thin machine, low on the ground with a seat which slides along a long track, with a flywheel connected to a chain and a handle which the ‘rower’ grabs and pulls to replicate the rowing action as they slide back and forth. Air rowing machines make use of air resistance to mimic the resistance of an oar moving through the water. And, the reason they are so useful is because they can be used by a variety of people pursuing a variety of totally different types of fitness or objectives – and they are extremely effective.
People who are dyed in the wool iron addicts (bodybuilders, weight lifters, etc) always need to warm up well before lifting, and air rowing machines are the perfect way for a full body warm up. Rowing stimulates an incredible amount of muscle fibers and really does get the blood flowing like nothing else – you will be surprised by just how much effort is needed to row. With that in mind, for a quick 5-10 minute warm up before a heavy weight lifting session, rowing machines are ideal.
People who want to gain a bit of overall fitness and stamina could also make great leaps forward with a rowing machine. Again, for the same reason – rowing machines work so much of the body, and it’s tough going, you really do get a full body workout which translates into full body fitness.
Losing fat is probably the most common reason people go to the gym, purchase exercise bikes, go jogging, swimming, and the like. Again, air rowing machines really do top the list as far as losing fat goes. Unlike jogging or cycling which pretty much involves the legs mostly, rowing machines involve many more muscle groups and are very tough going which is what you want and need; anything else but a tough workout is a waste of time, irrespective of you goals.
Overall, air rowing machines are a great way to develop your cardiovascular health and boost endurance and are a tough piece of equipment to beat for their flexibility.
